Logistical Note

TRANSPORTATION | The secretariate will provide complimentary ground transport to and from the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport in Nairobi to the conference venue for delegates residing in the recommended hotels as above. Look for the Conference signage at the airport to access this service. However, if you plan to arrive earlier or reside in other areas, use a different entry point, or extend your stay, kindly make your own arrangements. Please share your final itinerary on the registration link on the conference portal by 30th September 2024 to assist in arranging the airport pickups. |
DRESS CODE | The weather will be warm, so we recommend light cool clothing. For the conference days, the dress code will be business casual. You may also wish to bring suitable clothing for evenings and weekends to enjoy the hotel’s recreational facilities (such as swimsuits) and activities they offer. |
MEALS | Meals will be provided during the conference period (refreshments during breaks and lunch). Exhibitors: Please note that meal cards will be provided for up to two exhibitors per organization. If you have more than two exhibitors, we kindly advise you to arrange alternative meal options for the additional participants. |
SPECIAL DINNER EVENT | A special dinner will be held on the 8th of October 2024 Dress Code: African Attire |
INSURANCE | Delegates are encouraged to secure individual travel insurance that offers comprehensive coverage for their trip. The insurance should cater for emergency expenses and medical treatment during the period. |
CURRENCY, EXCHANGE AND CREDIT CARDS | The official currency of Kenya is Kenya Shilling. Cash, debit cards, and credit cards are the primary methods of payment. ATM machines are available at the malls. |
WIFI | Wi-Fi is available at the conference at no cost. |
ELECTRICITY | Kenya uses power plugs and sockets of type G, with a standard voltage of 240 V and a frequency of 50 Hz. If your devices are compatible with these specifications, you will not need a power adapter. However, if your devices use a different plug type or are not compatible with the voltage in Kenya, you will need a power adapter and/or a voltage converter/transformer. |
LANGUAGE | English and Kiswahili are widely spoken across the country and used in government, media, and daily communication. |
GETTING AROUND | There are plenty of options to get around in Nairobi, however we recommend the use of Uber and Little Cabs Only. |
SAFETY AND SECURITY | To ensure a safe visit to Nairobi, stay updated on local advisories, secure your belongings, and use reliable transportation. Avoid unsafe areas, choose reputable accommodations, and respect local laws and customs. Have emergency contact information and travel insurance ready, follow health precautions, and keep your phone charged with important contacts readily available. |
